  1. This special preview version, FreeSpace 2 Demo (the "Software"), is
  2. intended solely for your personal noncommercial home entertainment
  3. use. You may not decompile, reverse engineer, or disassemble the
  4. Software, except as permitted by law. Interplay Productions and
  5. Volition, Inc.  retain all rights and title in the Software including
  6. all intellectual property rights embodied therein and derivatives
  7. thereof.  You are granted a revocable, nonassignable limited license
  8. to create derivative works of this Software solely for your own
  9. personal noncommercial home entertainment use and may publicly
  10. display such derivative works to the extent specifically
  11. authorized by Interplay in writing. A copy of this authorization, if
  12. any, will be provided on Interplay's World Wide Web site, located at
  13. http://www.interplay.com, or by contacting the legal department of
  14. Interplay Productions in the US at (949) 553-6655. The Software,
  15. including, without limitation, all code, data structures, characters,
  16. images, sounds, text, screens, game play, derivative works and all
  17. other elements of the Software may not be copied (except as provided
  18. below), resold, rented, leased, distributed (electronically or
  19. otherwise), used on pay-per-play, coin-op or other for-charge basis,
  20. or for any commercial purpose. You may make copies of the Software
  21. for your personal noncommercial home entertainment use and to give to
  22. friends and acquaintances on a no cost noncommercial basis. This
  23. limited right to copy the Software expressly excludes any copying or
  24. distribution of the Software on a commercial basis, including,
  25. without limitation, bundling the product with any other product or
  26. service and any give away of the Software in connection with another
  27. product or service. Any permissions granted herein are provided on a
  28. temporary basis and can be withdrawn by Interplay Productions at any
  29. time. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

  31. Modem and Network Play. If the Software contains modem or network
  32. play, you may play the Software via modem transmission with another
  33. person or persons directly without transmission through a third party
  34. service or indirectly through a third party service only if such
  35. service is an authorized licensee of Interplay. For the purposes of
  36. this license, a third party service refers to any third party service
  37. which provides a connection between two or more users of the
  38. Software, manages, organizes, or facilitates game play, translates
  39. protocols, or otherwise provides a service which commercially 
  40. exploits the Software, but does not include a third party service
  41. which merely provides a telephonic connection (and nothing more) for
  42. modem or network play. Authorized licensee services are listed on
  43. the Interplay Productions World Wide Web Site located at
  44. http://www.interplay.com. This limited right to transmit the Software
  45. expressly excludes any transmission of the Software or any data
  46. streams thereof on a commercial basis, including, without limitation,
  47. transmitting the Software by way of a commercial service (excepting
  48. those specific commercial services licensed by Interplay) which
  49. translates the protocols or manages or organizes game play sessions.

  53. is intended to prevent you from downloading the Software from
  54. InterplayÆs Web site or from commercial service providers authorized
  55. by Interplay to provide the Software to you.

  57. Acceptance of License Terms. By downloading or acquiring and then
  58. retaining this Software, you assent to the terms and restrictions of
  59. this limited license. If you acquired the Software and do not accept
  60. the terms of this limited license, you must return the Software
  61. together with all packaging, manuals and other material contained
  62. therein to the store where you acquired the Software for a full
  63. refund and if you downloaded the Software, you must delete it.
